SANAQUA - 16 OUNCE - Item #83-3246
PURPOSES AND BENEFITS
The disinfection of nets, tanks, and associated equipment is essential if the aquarist is to prevent the transfer of pathogens from one tank or pond to another. Sanaqua is a powerful disinfectant, sanitizer, germicide, fungicide, and deodorizer for aquarium and fishery use. It contains a quaternary ammonium compound that has pronounced germicidal properties. It exhibits a wide spectrum of microbiological and microbiostatic activity against bacteria and fungi. It is superior in performance when compared to many other widely used quaternary ammonium compounds. Sanaqua used routinely will aid in preventing the spread of fish diseases to aquariums. Sanaqua should be used as a disinfectant/sanitizer for nets, fish boxes, ornaments, plastic plants, etc. It may also be used to disinfect walls and floors, raceways, aquaria, and areas where fish are handled.Sanaqua has notable advantages over traditionally used "household" disinfectants that control microorganisms:
l. Sanaqua has a high wetting and surface penetration activity. This property allows the product to readily penetrate areas that many other germicides do not.
2. Sanaqua has a wide spectrum of biocidal activity. Sanaqua has an effective and wide spectrum of activity against viruses, fungi, and gram positive and gram negative bacteria.
3. Ease and safety of handling. Compared to some other types of disinfectants, Sanaqua has low toxicity and irritancy when used in the recommended use dilutions.
4. Sanaqua has excellent storage properties. Sanaqua is stable for long periods in undiluted and diluted solutions.
5. Sanaqua destroys odors. Some products simply mask obnoxious odors; Sanaqua disinfects and destroys these odors. Sanaqua imparts a pleasant, clean odor to disinfected surfaces.
6. Sanaqua has substantial organic tolerance. Organic matter interferes with the activity of some disinfectants. Sanaqua is highly effective in the presence of organic matter.
7. Sanaqua has greater hard water tolerance. Hard water interferes with the activity of disinfectants. Sanaqua has a substantial hard water tolerance compared to other disinfectants.
Sanaqua is the only disinfectant/sanitizer that is federally registered specifically for aquarium and fishery use. It has been registered in 3 different use classes as : (l) disinfectant of aquarium equipment; (2) disinfectant in breeding, handling, and distribution establishments; (3) disinfectant in fish disease control institution.
