DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Metronidazole posses anti-protozoal activity against certain protozoans which cause diseases in freshwater and marine fishes. Its primary use is for the control of Hexamita and Spironucleus, the suspected causative agents of "hole-in-the-head" syndrome in fishes. A secondary use is for the control of Ichthyophthiriasis (ich). Metronidazole is the drug of choice for control of Spironucleus infections in fishes.

TREATMENT PROCEEDURE and DOSAGE :
For the control of protozoans of aquarium fishes, use at a concentration of 5 ppm (50 mg/L, 18.9 mg/gal). Partial water changes are recommended after 24 hours, then retreat. Continue treatment for 3 to 5 days or until mortalities cease. To achieve the recommended therapeutic dosage level, add one (1) teaspoon for every 164 gallons of water (1/4 teaspoon for every 41 gallons).

For accuracy and reproducibility of results, this drug should be measured by weight. However, because of its relative safety in aquariums, it can be measured out in teaspoons when treating small volumes of water.

CAUTION :
Powerful dye. May cause skin sensitization.

Avoid skin contact. Avoid contact with clothing.
Avoid breathing the powder or dust.

Use in an area with minimal air movement to prevent blowing of the dust.

In case of eye contact, immediately flush with water for at least 15 minutes.

In case of skin contact, wash with soap or a mild detergent.
