DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
COPPER SULFATE is a metallic compound used as a source of copper ion (Cu++) for the treatment of marine fish diseases caused by the protozoan parasites Amyloodinium (Oodinium) ocellatum and Cryptocaryon irritans. It is also used for controlling fresh water fish diseases caused by Amyloodinium, Costia, Chilodonella, Epistylus and Trichodina.

TREATMENT PROCEDURES AND DOSAGE:
Bath: As a treatment for protozoan diseases add enough stock solution to produce a concentration of 0.15 to 1.0 ppm (as Cu++) in the aquarium water. Copper Sulfate is an extremely potent drug and can be toxic to plants and animals. To avoid the relative inaccuracy involved in measuring crystalline powders by volume (i.e. teaspoons) this product must only be measured by weight in the dry form.

Marine Fish: As a treatment for Cryptocaryon irritans and Amyloodinium ocellatum add enough stock solution to produce a concentration of 0.10 to a maximum of 0.20 ppm (mg/L). Treat fish daily for a minimum of ten days with a water change of 20 - 25% or more before each treatment. Use a copper ion test kit to monitor copper levels.. Higher concentrations are not recommended as high concentrations can can cause pathological damage to the gills and internal organs.

Fresh Water Fish: Add enough stock solution to produce a concentration of 0.25 to 1.0 ppm (mg/L). The dosage must be carefully selected and is dependent on the prevailing carbonate hardness of the water. Consult the appropriate literature.

MAKING A STOCK SOLUTION:
Use 0.00754 grams (7.54 mg) per mL of total solution desired (7.54 grams per liter of total solution) or use 0.223 grams per fluid ounce of total solution desired (28.549 grams per gallon of total solution). This formula produces a stock solution which is approximately 0.75% (weight to volume) copper (Cu++). Used at a rate of 1 teaspoon (5 mL) per 20 gallons it produces a concentration of 0.125 ppm. Used at a rate of 1 teaspoon (5 mL) per 10 gallons it produces a concentration of 0.25 ppm. 100 grams will make approximately 3.5 gallons of stock solution. Note: Use only deionized or distilled water to make up the stock solution.

DANGER:
May be fatal if swallowed. Wash thoroughly after handling. Do not store near food or feed.
ANTIDOTE: If swallowed call a physician or Poison Control Center. Drink 1 or 2 glasses of water and induce vomiting by touching back of throat with finger, or if available, by administering syrup of ipecac. Do not induce vomiting or give anything to an unconscious person.
